On what substrate does polysiloxane resin exhibits good adhesion?
The substrate should have a rough surface(through sanding) or be treated with a primer before application. It’s necessary to sand or sandblast before application. Ideally, polysiloxane coating is applied over an epoxy primer system, as the adhesion will be much better.
What is the application solid content for polysiloxane coatings?
Generally, it can achieve over 95% solid content. With a film thickness of 80-100 microns, the spreading rate is 0.16 kg/㎡, equivalent to 6 ㎡/kg.
Does adding siloxane to two-component epoxy system improve its salt spray resistance?
Generally, blending epoxy with polysiloxane is aimed at enhancing weatherability, as epoxy itself offers excellent corrosion resistance. The combination leverages epoxy's strong adhesion, dense film formation, and superior corrosion resistance alongside polysiloxane's outstanding weatherability, thereby improving the overall performance of the coating.
Is there a significant difference between amino polysiloxane and amino silane 550?
Yes, there is a notable difference. Amino polysiloxane is a polymeric compound typically used as a curing agent or resin modifier in coatings, enhancing properties like weather resistance and mechanical strength. In contrast, amino silane 550 (likely a specific model like Silane Coupling Agent KH-550) is a small molecular silane coupling agent, primarily employed as an adhesion promoter or surface modifier. While both contain amino groups, they differ significantly in molecular structure, application scope, and functional mechanisms.
What are the special requirements for additives in polysiloxane resins?
Polysiloxane resins are relatively sensitive to alkalinity. Avoid using strongly alkaline additives, while weakly alkaline additives are acceptable.
What kind of new performance may bring if adding acrylic resin to polysiloxane?
By combining the respective advantages of siloxane and acrylic, it helps increase the comprehensive performance of the coating, giving the coating long-lasting and durable weatherability, corrosion resistance, as well as gloss and color retention.
